“I am an artist in Ballard, Seattle. I connected first with a Scandinavian bar in need of a mural to cover their ply wood. Ballard has strong roots in Scandinavian culture and heritage and I wanted to bring that to life with my first mural. Being Scandinavian myself and growing up in Ballard, it meant a lot to me to contribute color and "Norwegian happiness" to my community. The mural is a modern take on traditional Norwegian rosemaling combined with viking pieces to represent the bar "Skål".

While painting that mural, I was given the opportunity to paint a long standing Ballard bar, "The Smoke Shop". In true Ballard fashion, their logo is a viking ship. I took their logo and added Norwegian rosemalling style waves. It is a much more simple design, but still brings the Scandinavian heart to the community.”
